Hi, I’m Niko.
Some let the gear do the directing — I prefer to listen, observe, and find the story.
I’ve spent years crafting short-form films for brands, makers, and artists — with a focus on people, process, and the unseen details that bring products to life. My work has aired on PBS networks and has taken me into vineyards, studios, and workshops around the world.
I’ve collaborated with artists like Kenny Scharf and Tammy Garcia, and musicians like Brandon Boyd of Incubus. But whether I’m filming a winemaker or a fashion designer, the goal is always the same: to create honest, cinematic content that connects people to what you make — and why you make it.
I direct, shoot, and edit — often solo or with a few close collaborators — and deliver refined visual narratives built for brand longevity, not noise. The gear is minimal. Your story is not.
My Love for Film
Whether it’s Grace Kelly switching on the lamps in Rear Window or Marcello waving to us on the beach in La Dolce Vita, the films I love are made up of moments that tell a story. They’re beautiful. Haunting. They stick with us. That’s why I love film. And they also marvel with detail and design. I return to the great ones over and over and experience the depth of craft— how Sidney Poitier wears a suit or how a hat rests on Faye Dunaway, these things keep me coming back.
I wonder if my young son will love film like I do. I wonder if he will notice the details in a diner in Moonlight or be taken by the majesty of a duel in Barry Lyndon. I know where I was when I saw every movie the first time. You do too, probably. This is what film does. It creates a whole memory of viewing that other mediums cannot. I hope that any film I make, no matter how small, captures the timeless quality of the experience someone gets when watching a film.
When I think of folks making art as fashion, or wine, or design, I think of those elements in film — how good the food looks in a prison in Goodfellas, or the clothes in an Antonioni film where nothing exists but people and their fabrics. The pleasure of wine in Sideways and the pure joy and humor that Beau Brummell gives us, for we are nothing without humor.
This is what I am looking to capture for the people I work with: their art, their voice, their part in the cosmic puzzle — through film.
Let’s Tell Your Story
Want to talk to about the real you and the real art that you are making? I am all ears. Take your time. Let it happen.
